Aluko helps Hull advance in Europe

Sone Aluko scored the winning goal for Hull City as they got their first ever win in Europe to advance to the next round of the Europa League.

The Nigeria international volleyed Tom Ince’s cross into the roof of the net in the 80th minute to seal the win.

Aluko came off the bench for Shane Long in the 74th minute, and scored the winning goal six minutes later to help the Tigers secure a 2-1 win over Trencin at the KC Stadium.

Steve Bruce’s side came from behind to win the game after Tomas Malec scored in the second minute to give Trencin the lead. But Ahmed El Mohamady equalized for the hosts in the 27th minute.

The visitors would have progressed if the game had ended in a score draw as the first-leg in Zilina ended goalless.

But Aluko’s effort helped the English Premiership side book their place in the fourth and final qualifying round of the Europa League.
