Hart: It’s just unfortunate

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart admitted Jerome Boateng’s late winner felt like a kick in the teeth as Bayern Munich opened up their Champions League Group E campaign with a 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena.
The Germans had looked like being frustrated in a pulsating clash as England’s No 1 Hart produced a series of outstanding saves to deny the likes of Thomas Muller, Mario Gotze, David Alaba and Robert Lewandowski.
But Boateng’s strike from distance took a deflection off Gotze and flew past Hart in the last minute to deny City a point in Bavaria.
Speaking after the game, the shot-stopper told Sky Sports 5HD: “We fought hard all night against a good team and had chances as well.
“You know what you’re going to get when you come here. You’re going to get a tough game. I thought we played well, but the shot got a nasty deflection from Jerome, who came back to haunt us.
“I think it would have been a well-deserved draw and you know we made good clearances and good blocks.
“We made them work hard for everything. It’s just unfortunate we couldn’t get that little chance at the end – it would have been a different end for us.
“I tend to be busy against German teams, it’s just a shame we didn’t come away with a result.”
City manager Manuel Pellegrini was unable to speak to the media after the game as part of his touchline ban, leaving his assistant Ruben Cousillas to offer his take on the game.
“Definitely we are frustrated. We played a really good game and also (gave) good entertainment for the people,” he said.
“We had two teams trying to score goals but to concede in the last minute was frustrating.
“It’s the first game, we have only just begun. There are many games ahead and we don’t have to be too sad. We can still be first in the group.”
