Global Sports : Redknapp: City Were Shambolic

Jamie Redknapp says Manchester City should be embarrassed by a “shambolic” display that led to their shock 1-0 defeat to Burnley.
George Boyd scored the only goal of the game on the hour mark to condemn the Premier League champions to their third loss in their last four matches in all competitions.
The defeat leaves their title hopes in tatters as they as they are now five points behind leaders Chelsea but having played two games more.
And, speaking on Saturday Night Football, Redknapp pulled no punches in his criticism of Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
“City were shambolic, I’m so disappointed in them,” he said. “That’s the sort of performance that gets managers the sack.
“Everyone will be talking about Manuel Pellegrini but the players should be embarrassed with how they played today to a man, it was such a poor performance.”
Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry was equally as critical of City, who are now in danger of being overtaken by the Gunners and Manchester United.
“We sensed that after the first half they needed to wake up and they didn’t,” he said. “They gave Burnley an opportunity to be in the game and Man City didn’t do enough to win the game.
“There wasn’t enough, especially away from home against a team who wants to stay up. There was no spark, no commitment, the attitude wasn’t there, and then you leave yourself exposed. They all lost, the boss, the players, everyone.”
While the win severely dents City’s chances of defending their title, it is a huge boost for Burnley in their fight against relegation.
They are now just a point from safety and Redknapp was full of praise for their performance.
“It was absolutely magnificent from Sean Dyche’s men,” he said. “Their emotions were in control, they passed the ball extremely well and they came up with the magical moment in the game.
“It’s hard to say they didn’t deserve it, their commitment was incredible and they have given themselves a lifeline. If they had lost we would have been talking about them cutting adrift, now they have a genuine opportunity of playing in the Premier League next season.
