Global Sports : Hodgson Happy With Kane Plan

| 0

Roy Hodgson has changed his mind and insists he is happy for Harry Kane to travel with Tottenham to Australia on a post-season tour.
Hodgson hit out at Spurs last week for committing to take Kane for a friendly against Sydney FC on May 30, suggesting Mauricio Pochettino should leave the striker at home after his breakthrough season, particularly with the possibility of him playing in the U21 European Championship in the summer.
But after meeting with the Spurs boss on Thursday, the England manager said he had no issue with the trip.
“It doesn’t bother me one bit,” he said.
“The thing about these tours which are commercial tours to satisfy contracts made with big sponsors is they want the big-name players to be there and he is a big-name player.
“It was a long chat with Mauricio, it was good to see him. I am pretty confident that between the club, Daniel, Mauricio, and Harry himself and (Under-21 coach) Gareth Southgate, they will find a solution to that without any problem at all.
“The so-called problematic tour they will have at the end of the season which for me is not a problematic tour at all.
“I think, speaking to Mauricio, they are very wise to go for a week at the end of the season when it’s quite relaxed and you don’t have to really work your players hard.
“If that means you don’t have to go flying around at the start of the season in pre-season that seems to be a very wise move. The FA are perfectly comfortable with that.
