Global Sports : Aston Villa V Leicester Preview

posted in: News | 0

Aston Villa host fellow Premier League strugglers Leicester with new manager Tim Sherwood in the stands on Sunday as attention turns to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Paul Lambert was sacked by Villa after the 2-0 defeat at Hull City in midweek – their fifth league loss in succession – as they slipped into the relegation zone.
The club appointed Sherwood on Saturday but he will take charge of his first game next week against Stoke while first-team coach Scott Marshall and goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall take charge of this clash against Leicester.
Villa saw off Championship promotion hopefuls Bournemouth in the last round and will be looking for a morale boost in Sunday’s encounter as they aim to win their first trophy since their League Cup triumph 19 years ago.
Team news
Ron Vlaar could return in for Villa, with the Netherlands defender fully recovered from a knee problem which has kept him out for over a month.
Villa may be tempted to recall Christian Benteke after the striker started the last two games on the bench, but Philippe Senderos (calf) and Libor Kozak (broken leg) are unavailable.
Leicester boss Nigel Pearson is hopeful defender Matthew Upson will be available for selection after he was forced off against Arsenal, but Robert Huth will be missing as the German is cup-tied.
Other than that, the Foxes manager has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s encounter, with Chris Wood battling to recover from an ankle problem and Kasper Schmeichel still out after suffering a broken metatarsal.
Betting
Aston Villa are Sky Bet’s 7/5 favourites to book a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday, with Leicester 19/10 to win and 9/4 to secure a replay. Both sides are given long odds in the outright, with Villa slightly shorter at 22/1 to their visitors’ price of 33/1. Christian Benteke heads the first goalscorer betting at 5/1 while Leonardo Ulloa and Andrej Kramaric are considered the visitors’ biggest treats at 6/1 apiece.
Jamie Redknapp is backing Riyah Mahrez to score first (10/1) in his Red Hot Tips along with a 2-1 victory (also 10/1) for the visitors.
